Presentation
The two-day training “Artificial Intelligence for Terminology” introduces participants to Artificial Intelligence in the construction of terminologies.
The training covers international standards such as ISO 1087, ISO 704, and TBX, as well as the new AFNOR standard on ontoterminology currently under development. It explores how Natural Language Processing (NLP) and Generative AI, including Large Language Models (LLMs), can support corpus processing, term extraction, and terminological knowledge acquisition.
Participants will also discover Semantic Web technologies and W3C standards, including RDF, SKOS, and OWL, for representing and publishing terminologies as knowledge graphs. Topics include terminology skosification, SPARQL queries, and applications to translation and multilingual terminology management.
Objectives of the training
To provide participants with the theoretical knowledge and practical skills needed to develop, structure, and publish digital terminologies using AI-assisted methods and relevant ISO and W3C international standards.
Target audience
Researchers, teachers, terminologists, translators, language professionals, knowledge engineers, and anyone interested in terminology and Artificial Intelligence.
Learning outcomes:
Participants will acquire basic knowledge of terminology and concept theory, relevant ISO and W3C standards, AI-assisted terminology methods, ontologies and knowledge graphs, terminology skosification, and SPARQL queries. They will also develop practical skills in using Protégé for ontology construction.
Participants are asked to bring their laptops
